The old, ancient times where people collected things to keep and to possess – like records, pokemon, star wars fan stuff etc. – comes to an end now. It’s decided: Possession was yesterday. But before having a close look on how online technologies play their part in overcoming the worthfulness of possession – here comes the biggest record collection in the world:

Shiny CRM, punched in the face by IT
That’s the result if a shiny CRM strategy is just being punched in the face by poor IT.
By the way: “500″ does not mean that I’m the 500th customer who got that error, it’s just an HTTP error code saying “internal server error”.
What’s the learning: Nerd stuff stays nerd stuff, even if it’s being served on a golden plate by the model stewardess.
Vertrauen in den Kunden: Warum das Internet von Supermärkten lernen sollte
Vor kurzem wurde unser Supermarkt umgebaut: Die Drehkreuze am Eingang wurden schon vor längerer Zeit abgeschafft, nun aber wurde der Eingangsbereich vergrößert und damit noch weiter geöffnet. Der Kunde bekommt das Gefühl, dass der Supermarkt darauf vertraut, dass man nichts klaut – und dafür auch keine Barriere mehr braucht. Steigen die Ladendiebstähle dadurch an? Nein.
Ich finde dieses Beispiel interessant, weil es sehr bildlich zeigt, wie eine vertrauensvolle Öffnung gegenüber dem Kunden und der Abriss alter Barrieren sprichwörtlich zum Vorteil beider Seiten gereicht.
In der Diskussion um die Schützung von Urheberrechten im Internet haben wir es mit einer gar nicht so unähnlichen Situation zu tun: Die gerade mächtig in der Kritik stehende internationale Gesetzesinitiative ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement), die für den Schutz von Urheberrechten im Internet ins Leben gerufen wurde, baut aus Sicht der Kritiker eine massive neue Barriere in einem vermeintlich freien Internet auf. Dem Internet, so die Kritiker, solle die unabdingbare Netzneutralität entzogen werden.

Aus Protest gegen geplante Gesetze zur Netzkontrolle, die derzeit in den Vereinigten Staaten initiiert werden, sind zahlreiche Website-Betreiber in Streik getreten: Wikipedia hat seine englischsprachige Präsenz ganz abgeschaltet, der Blog-Anbieter Wordpress zeigt schwarze Zensur-Banner auf seiner Homepage, auch Google und Facebook schließen sich den Kritikern der Gesetzesinitiativen an.

Prometheus: movie trailer picture analysis
Finally, the trailer for Ridley Scott’s new movie Prometheus is out. Originally planned to be the prequel for Alien, one of the most famous Science Fiction movies ever, Prometheus was re-invented as an own film, and not as a pure Alien-prequel.
When the two main developers of the Prometheus-storyline, Ridely Scott and LOST-Writer Damon Lindelof, found out that with a lot of new and challenging ideas, they lost more and more the pure Alien-way, they decided to approach Prometheus as an individual and stand-alone movie event.
Nevertheless, when finally watching and analysing the Prometheus trailer released today, after weeks of footage and background stories on the new film, I can really find quite a lot of references to the visual world of Alien.
